Turn-based creature collecting
Joseon Paldo
A war-torn Joseon rebuilt one spirit beast at a time
The setting
Walking a Joseon still scarred by war
The wounds of the Imjin War haven't healed. Villages lie in ruin, and things that are no longer human have crept into the mountains. Along that road you meet spirit beasts and seal them with talismans to travel together.
Combat is turn-based, and the Five Elements' cycle of creation and destruction weighs heavily on damage. Which beasts you bring already decides half the battle before it starts.
Rules
No two beasts grow the same
In a collecting game, what matters most is whether the one you raised is truly special.
Birth-chart affinity
Every beast is born to one of the five elements, and how well it meshes with your birth chart changes its potential. Catch two of the same species and they grow into different creatures.
Talisman sealing
You do not win a beast by killing it — you seal it with a talisman. How much health it has left when you throw decides the odds.
The five elements
Wood, fire, earth, metal, and water each beget and beat one another. With the matchup on your side, the same skill hits far harder.
Five paths of evolution
Build training power and prepare elixirs and sacred sites. Higher evolutions also require a master’s teaching and territory trials. Raise each spirit by meeting the conditions for its next stage.
